About Us

The group started life in the 1980’s as the Boys’ Brigade Parents and Friends Association to raise funds for the local group at Hopton URC, Calder Road, Mirfield.

The boys brigade group has since disbanded and the church has been closed down; yet the pantomime group wanted to continue to serve the community in some way. For a few years they raised funds for the NSPCC and other local charities.

The group’s chairperson, Marie Peacock, was working for Kirkwood Hospice and could see first hand the amazing work that was done there and, knowing they needed millions to be raised each year to continue this work, decided that the hospice could become the primary focus. The members agreed and they formally became an officially recognised support group shortly after in 2006.

Since this time they have raised over £9500 for the cause and each year introduce new and varied events to keep this total going up.
