Welcome to the Hopton Pantomime Group’s official website!!!
We were originally founded as the Boys’ Brigade Parents and Friends Association in 1989 to raise money for the 1st Mirfield Boys’ Brigade Co. This was done through different fundraising events. Many of the same characters that founded the original group are still involved but as years have gone by the group has expanded and evolved. This makes for an entertaining and successful time!
As time has progressed we have raised funds for charities like the NSPCC and other local causes.
Unfortunately, the church hall in which we have performed for nearly twenty years has now closed and this has led to a complete overhaul! We took the decision to stay in Hopton and the Upper Hopton Community Association have been extremely supportive. We are now going to rehearse and perform at Croft House in Upper Hopton.
We also decided that we would like to be a support group for Kirkwood Hospice. Kirkwood is a fantastic place caring for people with life threatening illness and their families within Kirklees. We feel this is a very worthwhile cause and so we will do all we can to support it. This year alone the hospice needs to raise over 3.9 million to continue to provide invaluable services to our community. We are proud to fundraise for such a worthwhile cause.
The group work really hard to produce a fantastic show that people return to year after year (this includes a pub crawl around Mirfield selling raffle tickets). We are happy to welcome anyone interested in being involved, whether on the stage or behind the scenes.
Work is now underway for February 2008 ... oh yes it is!!!
